Required documents
Please download and submit the original of the following documents for new application :
1) Original Membership Application Form;
2) Personal CV
– with job details & reference;
3) HKID Card copy;
4) Passport photo;
5) Safety Training Card (i.e. Green Card, CSW &/or CSP);
6) Cert copy for academic and * professional training
– which fulfill below Basic Requirement – item 2 : Training requirement (at least 84 hrs);
7) *CPD Record of last year – 1 Jan to 31 Dec
– min 35 hrs or above including 10 hrs in safety; or, 70 CPD hrs in 2 years (including 20 hrs in safety);
8) CPD Record Form
9) Job Record Form
10) Sample Reports – 2 sets (within 6 months) per each discipline applied (except management discipline);
11) Application fee – HKD1,000 (non-refundable) either by cheque or bank-in-slip (except for student member);

Basic requirements
The application will be processed based on the following criteria.
1. Education
– Min DSE for Operative Grade, or,
– Degree (Science, Surveying, Engineering) for Manager Grade
2. Training
a) min of 84 hours structured training relevant to the discipline applied which was conducted by *Registered Training Organization (RTO)
of HKIUS, namely, CIC, recognized universities (such as PolyU, including SPEED), IVE, UTI or Build.IT or all local institutes registered
with statutory authority.
b) if item 2a above cannot be provided, trade test is required by payment HKD5,000 per each time of test per each discipline until pass

3. Experience
– Min. of 3 years for operative grade, or, 5 years for manager grade
4. Safety training
– CSW is a min for Location and Condition trades, or,
– 10 hours safety related CPD annually for Management trades
5. Professional CPD (Past 1 year – 1 Jan to 31 Dec prior to application):
– min of 35 hours annually (10 hrs related to safety), or,
– 70 hours in 2 years before application (20 hrs related to safety)
* We accept CPD training conducted by all of our *Registered Training Organization (RTO), namely, CIC, recognized universities (such as PolyU, including SPEED), IVE, UTI or Build.IT or all local institutes registered with statutory authority and also recognized professional institutions (such as CIC, HKIE etc)
6. Professional assessments
– 3 written papers and one interview.
All application is personal membership that HKIUS will not disclose any details to others either by email, fax or in person unless they are authorized by letter.
